Gregory D. Hull

Attorney at Law

Greg attended Santa Clara University and received a BA, with honors; he graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review and the McAuliffe Honor Society. He has practiced law continuously since then, has tried dozens of cases to verdict and has broad, civil litigation and trial experience in both state and federal courts. His trial experience and ability have been recognized by national and international invitation-only trial advocacy organizations such as ABOTA (The American Board of Trial Advocates) and ISOB (The International Society
of Barristers).

In 2005, Greg joined Weil, Gotshal and Manges (Weil), an international law firm headquartered in New York, as senior counsel in the complex commercial litigation department of its Silicon Valley office. At Weil, Greg litigated claims concerning misappropriation of trade secrets, theft of confidential information, licensing disputes, UCL and UPA claims, and contract and intellectual property claims. He represented Valley and national heavyweights such as eBay, NetApp, Apple, Global Foundries, Lehman Brothers, United Health Care and Airborne among many others. He retired from Weil (and “big Law”) on 12/31/13 and joined his friend and colleague, Steve Ellenberg in a new partnership on February 1st, 2014. Greg and Steve practiced together as a trial boutique until Steve joined Hopkins and Carly, a large and well regarded business firm in downtown San Jose on July 1st, 2019. Since then Greg has practiced as a sole practitioner but with the ability to put together a first rate team (see below) when the client’s needs require it.

Greg serves as a mediator and holds a certificate from Pepperdine University’s acclaimed “mediation of the litigated case” program. In addition, he has served as a judge pro tem in the superior court and has presided over civil jury trials and small claims appeals in that capacity. He regularly provides advice and counsel to practicing lawyers on courts, mediators, arbitrators, law and advocacy. He enjoys a preeminent AV rating from Martindale and Hubbell.

A Note About Fees

A good outcome is one delivered for a good price. The billable hour has been justifiably criticized by clients. But, it is an appropriate and efficient billing method as long as time and time keepers are well managed. Greg keeps a careful eye on both. And when you call with a question or comment, you talk with Greg, not an associate or paralegal. Direct access translates into economy of effort and dollars.
